Biocompatible conductive adhesives for medical technology

Manufacturers of medical devices face particularly high challenges. The materials used not only have to meet demanding technical requirements, they have to be primarily harmless to health and compatible with USP Class VI or ISO 10993. Biocompatibility in medical technology describes the property of a material to perform its intended task, but at the same time not to cause undesirable reactions in the human body, which exceed the permissible limit. A biocompatible material is therefore well tolerated by the human body. In addition, they need to be highly chemically resistant when used for instruments, which have to be sterilized in an autoclave or a Sterrad® process. Polytec PT provides the medical technological industry with a range of two-component, heat-curing epoxy adhesives, that are tested according to USP VI and can withstand up to 1000 steam sterilization cycles, including special products for the manufacturing of endoscopes.

Polytec PT’s range of medical grade adhesives are based on epoxy systems, that are available either as two-component kits or premixed and frozen as single-component systems. To ensure their optimum performance, these adhesives must be cured at temperatures not less than 100 °C. Should you have temperature-sensitive components to bond, Polytec PT also offers adhesives that can be cured at moderate temperatures or even at room temperature.

Polytec PT offers you a wide range of epoxy-based adhesives, suitable for all common application techniques. Starting with our tried and tested adhesives for manual application in prototype or sample production to fully automated assembly by adhesive-dispensing, screen printing, jetting or stamping.
